Uday Mondal was born in 1976, lives and works in Baroda. Uday completed his BFA in Painting from the Indian Art College, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 1999 and MFA from MS University, Baroda in 2002. 


He has held two solo shows at Mumbai in 2005 and one at Baroda in 2001 and participated in many group shows in India and abroad. 


Uday is a young artist who has been awarded for his oil paintings from West Bengal State Academy and the Indian Art College, Kolkata in 1998 and 1997 respectively and also for his tempera painting by government of west Bengal in 1998. He was also awarded with Sushila Devi Memorial medal by Indian Society of Oriental Art, Kolkata in 1997.


Most of Uday’s figurative works comprise of images of those close to him. Regarding angles in his works, he tries experimenting with various angles e.g. foreshortening, juxtapositing, capturing birds' eye view; all to experiment and explore painting surfaces even deeper.

Uday Mondal
