Made Budhiana was born in 1959 in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.

 

He is a graduate of the Institute of Indonesian Arts, Yogyakarta. He has won numerous art awards, including the rare honour of having been twice awarded the Pratisara Affandi Adhi Karya from ISI Yogyakarta in 1985 and 1986. He received the Bali Art Award for Best Painting in 1997.
