Goh Beng Kwan was born in Indonesia in 1937.

Goh Beng Kwan, Singapore master artist, a pioneer in his style of abstraction and collage, for his contribution to art in Singapore he was awarded the Cultural Medallion by the Singapore government in 1989.

 

Beng Kwan was tutored by Singapore pioneer artists and among them was the late Chen Wen Hsi who recognized Goh’s style of combining brush work, colour and collage.

 

The technique of collage was developed when Beng Kwan was in New York, USA.

The vibrant colours of GBK’s landscapes began with his trips to Bali, when he said ‘nature is my studio, everywhere I look I see a painting.’

 

In 2010 Beng Kwan expanded his travels to beyond SEA and he continued to paint with ink, brush and vibrant colours.
