Goh Beng Kwan was born in Indonesia in 1937. He is a pioneer in his style of abstraction and collage.
For his contribution to modern art in Singapore he was awarded the Cultural Medallion by the Singapore government in 1989.
Some very iconic works of the 2000s have surfaced, they are especially important.
In 2000s the vibrant colours of GBK’s landscapes began with his trips to Bali, when he said ‘nature is my studio, everywhere I look I see a painting.’
The love for green in his landscapes from his early works in 2000s never left him as in the works in his book painted in 2016.
In 2018 Beng Kwan expanded his travels to beyond SEA and he continued to paint with ink, brush and vibrant colours.
