Cheryl Chiw, forages and gathers wood, stone, metal; elements shaped by nature and creates sculptures that resonate calmness and stillness; of balance between human presence and nature.
Cheryl is drawn to materials connected to earth. While art making, she is mindful of her interventions on what Nature has already provided. She is always looking for that balance; ‘to see the familiar in unfamiliar ways’.
‘There is so much invisible power in nature’ - heat, wind, water, forces of gravity and magnetism all working silently. The fascinating effects of time - resulting in forms, textures and patinas.
