Cheryl Chiw was born in 1970, Singapore. She is an interdisciplinary visual artist.
Cheryl creates sculptures, art videos and installations with metal, found objects and iron oxide, while negotiating the invisible forces of magnetism and gravity.
She currently explores the precariousness of balance, tension between surface and form, and the interconnectedness of materials.
Subjectivity of value and the perception of in-between states are among themes present. Often allowing serendipity to guide her process.
She invites one to “see” familiar things in unfamiliar ways and interpretations.
