Lu
Ming Teh, Earl
Born in Hong Kong in 1925; died in Italy, 2 September 2005. Singapore
citizen. Began his studies of painting in 1956 under the late Chen Wen Hsi. He
led, served on the board and acted as advisor to numerous governmental and non-governmental
museums, committees and societies devoted to the arts. A collector of Chinese
and South East Asian ceramics and painting, most of his collection has already
been donated to public institutions in Singapore. In 1995 he was awarded the Public
Service Star Award, and was appointed as Founding Chairman of the Singapore Art
Museum (1992-2000). Since his retirement from surgery in 2003, he was a full-time
artist. He had solo exhibitions in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and participated
in group exhibitions in Singapore.
